A gig in St George's, one of the most beatiful venues in the UK
15 Feb '10
10th June 2010
I'm thrilled to tell you that I'm finally going to be performing a one off special gig in the very best venue in Bristol...the marvellous St George's. For those of you that don't know St Georges it is best known for it's impressive acoustics beautiful design and was originally owned by the BBC as a place to record all their live classical music performances. It's a 500 seater and it's absolutely perfect for our music. 'Tis s very fine venue indeed.
The gig will be on 10th June 2010
What's more...
as this is something I've actually wanted to do for years, I'm making it even more unique to us by making it an evening full of surprises and special guests too. I can tell you that there will be a Christmas style brass band, a full on gospel choir (the real thing) and friends and musicians I've been lucky enough to work with so far.
There will be songs from 'Compass' and 'Montpelier' and some new ones too, including a duet with a marimba!
The tickets are on sale now. Not to be missed! And the last night before the first World Cup game too! So for some, the last night out for weeks that doesn't involve a ball (except of the course for the one we'll all be having inside St George's!!!! (sorry)

Compass is Launched!!
6 Oct '08
THANKYOU!!!
The launch at St Paul's Church was an exceptional success.
Not only was it sold out, but the crowd were so warm and excited and supportive that the whole event felt nothing less than magical.
With the Compass banner framing the back drop and a perfectly constructed and stylishly looking stage (thanks to Bristol's 'Sets in the City' who gave it as a gift!!), and all in the glorious surroundings of St Paul's church it was pretty well set up from the start!
Clive Melton our engineer did an incredible job on the sound (huge thank you Clive).
The brass band were outstanding and put a smidgen of Christmas in the air, the gospel choir sang their hearts out, and the taylor band, Beth, Robin, Neil and Lizz simply played beautifully!
Thank you to the 'Stringbeans' quartet for opening the evening with a touch of class and to all who came along that night to send 'Compass' out into the world with all the best possible will...fingers crossed she reaches the hundreds of thousands.
Here's to her future....

Want to buy the new Jane Taylor album AND help launch it too?!!
7 Aug '08
Jane will finally be launching her brand new album 'Compass' in October.
It's taken Jane a whole year to make the album she truly wanted to make, without compromise (it even features a full string orchestra, borrowed from a session they were doing with the marvelous Tony Christie!)and the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass band (from the film 'Brassed Off') and the Richard Hawley band, ukelele's, banjo's, a steinway piano and of course, beautiful classical and quirky string arrangements from Robin, Beth and Feargus.
We'd like it to reach as many people as possible, and we can't do this without you. So...If you would like to help promote the album, then get yourself a ticket to the launch party in Bristol, or pre buy the album in advance (and you'll get it before everyone else) as every penny will be going towards getting that album out there.
The Launch Party will be held on Friday October 3rd in the very magical space of St Paul's Church, Portland Square, Bristol. Home to the famous Bristol circus school, Circomedia.
This is going to be a very special evening. We've a gospel choir, a brass band, special guests and as well as performing every song from the album Jane will also be performing a few new ones to boot!
There are only 180 special tickets and they'll be available from Friday 15th August.

Jane completes the album!!!!
18 Mar '08
Jane has finally finished all recording for the follow up album to Montpelier. The album's off to be mastered and the artwork is currently being put together. There's much discussion about how we're going to launch it here at Bicycle head quarters, but we can say that everyone who's had a secret sneaky listen in advance (very close label personnel, family and friends only of course)has been spotted crying, laughing and looking generally over excited. Lighters in the air, jumping up and down and shouts of 'Christmas Number one!!' have all added to the general cheeriness of all involved in said album.
'I love my album' says Jane. 'Whatever happens now, I feel like I made the one I wanted to make.' and 'Colin Elliot is a genius'.
We will be posting up the very latest news here from now on, regarding the album. It's all been a bit focused on the recording, which is why the site's been a bit low on info. Sorry, we need more hands really! But all will be changing soon. Oh yes...
Jane to open for Noel Hogan (The Cranberries)
6 Nov '07
Jane has been asked to open for Arkitekt, (the band created by Noel Hogan, the guitarist from the much loved Cranberries, and front man Richard Walters)in London, in November.
The unmistakable musical chemistry between Noel and Richard is now creating a new buzz and new tunes. With the "bones of an album" together, with mixes by Bernard Butler (ex Suede/McAlmont & Butler) this promises to be a very interesting band to check out.
Book early as this is an intimate venue, very special, but best that you're on a nice seat somewhere with a table rather than stood at the back.

The album will be released early next year...yes, finally and we're booking her UK promotional tour right now!

Jane on Johnnie Walker Show
20 Feb '06
The reaction to Jane's live session on Johnnie Walker's Drive Time show on Thursday Feb 2nd was phenomenal. Texts and e-mails to the show flooded in and according to Johnnie Walker's team, the show received more texts and e-mails than usual for a guest artist who wasn't already a major star with a 6 album record deal...and every one of them said they just loved the songs and the session.
So thank you to all those people that wrote in and supported what Jane's doing. There were loads of hits to the website and the guys at Disc 'n' Tape record shop in Bristol are now very busy packing all those cd's into jiffy bags! God bless them. They're all on there way to you!
Keep an eye on the gigs page. Jane's now got a new agent and so expect there to be lots of new gigs added over the next month or two.

After receiving such a terrific response from playing the opening album track 'Fall on Me' on his show, Johnnie e-mailed Jane to let her know that he loved the album and to ask if she would come in to the studio and play live on his show. What a lovely man.
This is Jane's first appearance on national radio. Much celebrating will be had afterwards! We'll keep you posted with what how it went and what the response was like.
